INTRODUCTION

We had been itching to get over to Biloxi ever since Katrina hit, and having seen the fury
of Hurricanes over the years both on land and at sea I had a fairly good idea of what to
expect.  Katrina however turned out to be a little more than I had anticipated.

We booked a room at the Navy Lodge on the Sea Bee Base in Gulfport then drove
downtown.  At the Railroad crossing we saw a huge sign stating that the area south of the
Railroad tracks was under strict Curfew.  We found severe damage almost everywhere
but south of the Railroad it was for the most part totaled.  In Biloxi US 90 from the I-110
interchange East is off limits and under National Guard Control.  Damage to the Casinos
could be seen from several blocks away and in a few places we could see clear through to
the Bay.  The Imperial Palace seemed to have sustained far less damage and was
expected to open Christmas.  Keesler AFB faired better than Biloxi.

The people of Biloxi/Gulfport should be an inspiration to all of us who are fortunately to
reside in this Great Land we call The United States of America.  They have picked
themselves up and are starting to put things back together again.  We heard no criticism
of local or Federal Government.  What we did see was a People determined to overcome
this Bad Hand dealt to them by Mother Nature.  This place is a mess but the Natives are
Genuine American.

We want to thank the entire Hof Reunion Association for there most Generous donation to
the people of Biloxi/Gulfport Via the Salvation Army.  May God Bless our Association and
the good people of Biloxi/Gulfport.  May 2006 bring much Joy and Happiness to all.
